The following list was established to make our clients aware of the guidelines in place outlining the duties and responsibilities of our homemakers. The term “light housekeeping chores” will be used; however, we must manage client expectations with respect to this term as we are not a housekeeping service provided by our home health aide in Chicago, Illinois.

Light Housekeeping Chores:

  • Dusting of patient’s bedroom and bath
  • Vacuuming of patient’s bedroom and bath
  • Patient’s laundry
  • Grocery shopping
  • Patient’s meal preparation
  • Patient’s bed making — linens changed
  • Patient’s bathroom cleaning
  • Wet mop patient’s bedroom and bath
  • Dry mop patient’s bedroom and bath
  • Clean kitchen (to include):
    • Wash patient’s dishes, dry and put away
    • Wipe stove and refrigerator (exterior)
    • Take the garbage out of the house

Duties NOT Included in Our Service:

  • Washing walls
  • Scrubbing floors (on hands and knees)
  • Moving furniture or appliances
  • Cleaning collectibles (knick-knacks)
  • Packing and moving boxes
  • Moving lawn
  • Pet grooming/clean-up
  • Shoveling snow/use of snow blower
  • Windows
  • Raking leaves
